Completely gave up on high school love!

I’ve completely given up on finding love in high school! Honestly, I did have a girlfriend for about six months, and we’re still best friends. I wouldn’t change a thing about what we had.

However, my experience with other guys really soured my perspective on high school romance.

There was one guy who seemed sweet but was oddly clingy. Every time I saw him, he was always hanging out with different girls. I ended up ghosting him, and later found out he was involved in some pretty inappropriate behavior, thinking he was talking to someone he thought was a 12-year-old.

Then there was another guy who started off being nice but quickly turned into a flirt. I was into it until he mentioned he was in a 10-month relationship, so I blocked him.

Finally, I reconnected with a boy I had a crush on from middle school. I thought we were vibing, but he ghosted me multiple times.

At this point, I’ve just decided to give up on high school love altogether. I’m a senior now with only two months left, and I can’t wait to move on!

  1. It’s completely understandable to feel disillusioned with high school relationships after going through those experiences. It’s tough when you put yourself out there and it seems like things don’t work out or you deal with people who don’t treat you with the respect you deserve. It sounds like you’ve had a mix of highs and lows with these guys, but it’s great that you’re still close with your ex-girlfriend—those friendships can be really valuable.

As you approach the end of high school, it’s totally normal to shift your focus away from love and relationships. You’re entering a new chapter soon, and it’s exciting to think about all the opportunities ahead! Use this time to enjoy yourself, focus on your interests, and surround yourself with friends who appreciate you. Love will come when you least expect it, so just remember that it’s okay to take a break and put your energy into yourself for now! You’ve got this!
