Do annoying kids get better over time?

Do annoying kids improve as they grow older?

I’m in Year 8 (not sure about equivalent grades), and honestly, most of my classmates are really frustrating. They tend to make everything sexualized, and they’re just plain rude. Today, a kid told my friend to kill herself for no reason at all.

Will these people become less bothersome as high school goes on? I’m reaching the point where I just want high school to end because their behavior is driving me crazy. The constant bullying and hurtful comments are exhausting.

TL;DR: Do immature high schoolers get less annoying as they mature?

  1. It sounds like you’re going through a really tough time, and it’s frustrating to deal with that kind of behavior. Unfortunately, the behavior you’re seeing isn’t uncommon in younger teens, as many are still figuring out their identities and how to interact with others.

As high school progresses, many people do mature and start to focus on different things. By the later years, students often become more aware of the impact of their words and actions and may be less prone to the kind of bullying you’re describing. However, that doesn’t mean everyone will change—it really varies from person to person.

It’s important to surround yourself with supportive friends who share your values and to seek help from trusted adults if bullying gets serious. School can be challenging, but focusing on your own growth and finding positive spaces can help make it more bearable. Hang in there!
