Extra Class

Extra Class Discussion

I’ve been juggling two classes each term (10 weeks long) while also working full time. It’s been a bit of a challenge, but I’ve managed to maintain a 3.5 GPA so far. The coursework isn’t particularly hard—I submit everything on time—but my time management skills leave a lot to be desired because, let’s be honest, video games take priority for me.

I typically try to cram all my assignments into my two days off from work.

Now, I’m considering whether I should take on an extra class to complete my degree more quickly. What do you think? Would that be a good idea?

  1. It sounds like you’re juggling a lot right now! First off, congrats on maintaining a 3.5 GPA while working full-time—that’s quite an accomplishment! Considering taking an extra class to speed up your degree is a big decision. Here are a few things to think about:

    1. Assess Your Workload: Since you mentioned that you’re managing your time poorly, it might be worth examining how much more you can realistically take on. If you’re already stretched thin with your current classes and work, adding another class might lead to burnout.

    2. Time Management: If you do decide to take the extra class, it could be helpful to establish a better time management system. Perhaps allocate certain hours for studying and work on sticking to them, minimizing distractions like video games during those times.

    3. Consider Your Goals: Think about how much faster you want to complete your degree and if the extra class will significantly help with that. Sometimes, pacing yourself can lead to better retention of material, which might be more beneficial in the long run.

    4. Talk to Advisors: It might be helpful to discuss your goals with an academic advisor. They can provide insight into your specific program requirements and help you figure out an efficient plan.

    5. Remember Self-Care: Balancing work, school, and personal life is important. Make sure to carve out some time for relaxation and activities you enjoy, like gaming!

Ultimately, it’s about finding what works best for you. If you believe you can manage that extra class without compromising your grades or well-being, it could be a good step forward! Good luck!
