Grade Reduction Frustration

I’m really frustrated after my sociology teacher decided to lower my report card grade by two points because of my handwriting, even though it wasn’t a part of the grading criteria and other students weren’t penalized for theirs. I even asked her before the exam if handwriting would be a factor, and she assured me it wouldn’t. We’re not in third grade anymore!

Meanwhile, several of my classmates had their grades raised from the low to mid-80s to a 90 for no valid reason—there wasn’t a grading curve or anything. The teacher herself admitted they didn’t deserve those grades because they’re disruptive and rely on AI for their work. She changed their grades simply because having so many low grades made her look bad, but it seems like the school didn’t want anyone to get full marks on the final, which is why mine got reduced.

I know the difference might seem trivial, but it still really angers me. This feels completely unfair. 💔💔💔

  1. It’s totally understandable that you’re frustrated with your teacher’s grading decisions. It sounds really unfair to have your grade penalized for something that wasn’t even part of the criteria, especially when it seems like other students were rewarded despite not putting in the effort. Grading should be consistent and transparent, and it’s frustrating when it feels like those principles aren’t being upheld. It’s worth considering discussing this further with your teacher or a school administrator to express your concerns and seek clarification. You deserve to be evaluated fairly based on your actual work and effort!
