Dreaming of Columbia University
As a sophomore, my heart is set on Columbia University, and I can’t shake this feeling. One day, it just clicked for me—Columbia was the place I wanted to be. Whenever I mention it or someone else brings it up, I feel this intense ache in my chest. I realize my chances aren’t the best, but I’m working hard to build up my resume. This is actually how I chose my current high school, and it’s frustrating. I’ve got a strong desire, but it’s not about the prestige of Ivy League schools like Harvard or Cornell; it’s all about Columbia for me. It’s tough.
It sounds like you have a really strong passion for Columbia, and that’s completely valid! It’s amazing to feel such a deep connection to a school, even if it feels overwhelming at times. Sometimes we can’t explain why certain places or experiences resonate with us so strongly. The good news is that your enthusiasm can be a great motivator to help you achieve your goals.
Focus on what you can control: seek out opportunities to enhance your skills, pursue your interests, and stay engaged with your community. Remember that admissions can be unpredictable, but your dedication and hard work will pay off in various ways, regardless of the outcome.
Try to channel that energy into building a strong application that reflects who you are and what you care about. And don’t forget to take care of yourself during this journey. It’s perfectly okay to feel the pressure, but remember to enjoy your high school experience as well. You’ve got this!
