High School: A Tough Transition

I just started high school, and it’s been really challenging. Compared to my time in intermediate school, everything feels so gloomy and overwhelming.

I find myself crying a lot before and during school, even though I try to hold it back. The majority of my teachers seem distant and unapproachable, with only a couple of supportive teacher aides making a difference. I long for my intermediate days when I had a vibrant, passionate teacher who inspired us all. Now, it feels like that energy is missing, and thinking back to those times often brings tears to my eyes.

I really miss my friends from intermediate, and the truth is, I don’t have anyone here. Most of the time, I sit in the library watching shows on my laptop. However, I do participate in running club every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, which I enjoy. It gives me a chance to escape the negativity of school for an hour and a half. I usually run 4 kilometers by myself since no one else, including the teacher, joins in. Honestly, I appreciate the solitude during our runs; it allows me to clear my mind. There are moments when I wish for company, but there are also times when I cherish being alone.

The best part of my day is running home to my loving family. Despite everything, I really don’t like high school.

You could also try getting involved in other activities or clubs where you might meet people who share your interests.

    Hanging onto the love and support from your family is so important, and it sounds like they’re a huge comfort for you. Keep finding those little moments that make you happy, even on tough days. You’re not alone in this—you’ve got the strength to get through it!
