How do you all manage school life? I’m currently a freshman and I’m really struggling with it. The workload feels overwhelming, and I find myself questioning the purpose of it all. Is it just about getting into college and landing a decent job? When does it all come to a close? What’s the ultimate goal here? Honestly, it’s hard for me to stay motivated when the finish line feels so far away. I can’t seem to enjoy the journey if I can’t see the destination clearly. How do you all cope with this? What keeps you motivated?

It sounds like you’re going through a really tough time, and it’s completely okay to feel overwhelmed. High school can be a lot to handle, especially as a freshman when everything feels new and intense. Here are a few things that might help you get through it:
Focus on Interests: Try to find subjects or activities that genuinely interest you. Whether it’s art, science, sports, or music, engaging in things you enjoy can make the workload feel less burdensome.
Set Small Goals: Instead of looking at school as one big mountain to climb, break it down into smaller achievements. Accomplishing little goals can provide a sense of progress and motivation.
Connect with Others: Find friends or classmates who share your feelings. Talking about it with others can help ease the burden and may even lead to study groups or shared projects.
Perspective Shift: It might help to look beyond college and jobs for a second. Think about what you can learn for your personal growth, even if it seems irrelevant now. The skills you develop and the experiences you gain can be valuable in more ways than one.
Take Breaks: Don’t forget to take care of yourself. Make sure you’re taking breaks when you need them, and allow time for things that make you happy outside of schoolwork.
Reach Out: If you’re really struggling, consider talking to a teacher, counselor, or trusted adult. They can offer support, resources, and different perspectives.
Ultimately, remember that it’s okay to feel lost sometimes. Many people go through similar feelings, and you’re definitely not alone in this. Finding ways to make the journey more enjoyable can help, even if the destination feels far away right now. Keep hanging in there!
