Subject: Struggling with My Language Requirement
I’m feeling really stuck with my foreign language requirement for my A&S degree. I only need one more semester of Latin to graduate, but I’m having a hard time. I usually pick up languages quickly at first, but when it comes to putting everything together, I struggle. The overwhelming content makes my anxiety kick in, and I freeze up during participation—especially when I know my translations are off. This is why I didn’t continue with Spanish after two years in high school and switched to German for two semesters at community college instead of focusing on one language consistently.
I had to drop this class last year, and it feels like I’m facing the same situation again. Passing seems almost impossible now, and waiting a whole year to try again isn’t an option for me. Is it really going to come down to not earning my Biology degree because of a single semester of Latin? It feels so frustrating and discouraging.
