I need an opinion

I could really use some advice. I have a math teacher who allows test corrections for the parts of a test I got wrong, and those corrections count as a formal grade. The catch is that they must be submitted on time; otherwise, it’s a straight 0 if submitted even a period late. Unfortunately, I did complete the corrections, but I accidentally left them at home. I offered to show my teacher that I did the work on time, but they still gave me a 0. I recognize that I should have brought it with me, but I’ve been dealing with a lot of stress, especially with catching up on schoolwork after missing most of last week due to a trip. What should I do? This 0 could seriously hurt my overall grade, and honestly, I’m really stressed out about it.

  1. It sounds like you’re in a really tough situation, and it’s understandable to feel stressed about it, especially after being away from school. Here are a few steps you could consider taking:

    1. Communicate with Your Teacher: It’s good that you already approached your teacher about the situation. Consider having another conversation where you express your concerns more openly. Explain your circumstances and the stress you’ve been under. Sometimes, teachers are willing to listen to personal situations if presented thoughtfully.

    2. Offer Compromise: Since you’ve done the corrections, perhaps you could ask if there’s a possibility to submit them late for partial credit. A compromise could help mitigate the impact of the zero on your overall grade.

    3. Talk to a Counselor or Administrator: If your teacher remains firm on the grade policy, you might want to speak with a school counselor or another administrator about your situation. They might offer advice or intervene if they find your situation warrants some consideration.

    4. Focus on What You Can Control: While it’s frustrating, try to focus on doing well in your other assignments and tests moving forward. Concentrating on your upcoming work can help improve your overall grade as well.

    5. Self-Care: Since you mentioned feeling a lot of stress, make sure to take care of your mental health. Finding healthy ways to cope with stress can help you handle school pressures more effectively.

Remember, while this one grade can feel overwhelming right now, there are always ways to recover from it in the future. Good luck!
