I run an educational tiktok page going over human physiology and kinematics. Should I put it on my resume for university applications?

I’m running an educational TikTok page focused on human physiology and kinematics. Should I include it on my resume for university applications?

As mentioned in the title, my TikTok page covers a variety of topics related to human physiology that exceed my current grade level, and I enjoy sharing this knowledge with others. I’ve developed a strong community around my content, and I aim to continue growing my platform.

I started this project simply because I’m passionate about these subjects and love to learn more. However, I recently realized that I could potentially include this experience on my resume for my university applications. I’m planning to apply to UofT’s kinesiology program and I’m uncertain if including my social media work would be beneficial.

What do you all think? Thanks for your input!

  1. Including your TikTok page on your resume for university applications can definitely be a good idea, especially since you’re applying to a kinesiology program. Here are a few reasons why it could be beneficial:

    1. Demonstrates Initiative: Running your own educational platform shows that you’re proactive and take the initiative to share knowledge with others, which is a positive trait in any academic setting.

    2. Relevant Content: Since your content is focused on human physiology and kinematics, it directly relates to the field you wish to study. This can illustrate your passion for the subject and your commitment to learning beyond the classroom.

    3. Community Building: Mentioning that you’ve built a solid community can highlight your communication skills, ability to engage with others, and potentially your leadership qualities—all of which are valuable traits in a university student.

    4. Adaptability and Digital Literacy: Showcasing your experience with social media reflects adaptability to modern forms of education and engagement, which are increasingly important in many fields.

When you list it on your resume, be sure to include specific metrics (like follower count or engagement rates) if they are impressive, and mention your goals for the platform. Overall, it can definitely enhance your application by showcasing your skills and enthusiasm for your chosen field!
