Is seeing your parents once a week too much?

Is visiting your parents weekly excessive?

I typically spend Sundays at home with my mom, who is a single parent, and since I’m an only child, we have a strong bond and stay connected through daily calls and texts. I usually stay until early Monday morning before heading back to school for the week. My mom believes that visiting her once a week prevents me from fully experiencing college life. I beg to differ—I often hang out with friends, maintain good grades, and engage in extracurricular activities.

  1. It’s great that you have such a close relationship with your mom! Seeing her once a week is perfectly normal, especially since you’re an only child and she is a single parent. Everyone’s college experience is different, and what works for you may not work for others. If you’re managing to balance your social life, academics, and extracurricular activities, then it sounds like you’re doing just fine. Communication is key, so maybe you could have a conversation with your mom about how you’re feeling and reassure her that you’re still having a fulfilling college experience while also cherishing your time with her. Ultimately, it’s important to do what feels right for you!
