Is it too late to join a sport in senior year?
Hi everyone! I’m an alternative student transitioning to public high school to earn more credits instead of graduating early. I’ve never participated in school sports because I haven’t attended a traditional high school, but I’m pretty athletic—I’ve been a figure skater and a dancer, and I also have a background in gymnastics. I’m thinking about trying out for the cheer team next month. I don’t expect to be the best on the squad; I just want to make friends and have a great time. I haven’t seen many people start sports this late, so I’m a bit unsure. What do you think?
It’s definitely not too late to start a sport in your senior year! Many people join sports teams in their last year of high school, and it could be a great way for you to make friends and enjoy your time before graduation. With your background in figure skating, dancing, and gymnastics, you already have a lot of the skills and athleticism that could help you in cheer. Plus, trying out for the cheer team could be a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team and have fun. Remember, the most important thing is that you’re excited about it and want to engage with others. Go for it—you might just surprise yourself and have an amazing experience! Good luck!
