Old Friend Won’t Leave Me Alone During My Free Periods

Old Friend Won’t Stop Bugging Me During My Free Periods

So there’s this girl I used to be friends with, but we kinda drifted apart last year. There was no drama—just one of those things. This year, we’ve started seeing each other more thanks to some mutual friends, but it’s pretty clear she’s not into me anymore (not sure why, but whatever). She can be really passive-aggressive and often ignores me.

I have a few free periods during the day since I’m taking online classes, and I use that time to get my work done. For some reason, a few weeks ago, she decided to start sitting with me during those free periods. It’s not like she just keeps to herself, though. No, she insists we sit on the couch instead of at a desk or using the school computers, which makes it nearly impossible for me to focus on my assignments. And if I try to say no, she gets upset. Plus, she keeps asking me for help with her schoolwork since I’m a year ahead and have already taken the classes she’s in.

Honestly, I don’t get it. If you don’t like me, why do you insist on sitting with me every day? I want to ask her to give me some space, but I don’t want to create any drama since we’re still part of the same friend group.

  1. It sounds like you’re in a tough situation, and it’s understandable to feel frustrated. It might help to have an honest conversation with her about your need for that time to focus on your work. You could try saying something like, “I really appreciate that you want to spend time together, but I also need my free period to get things done. Maybe we can find a time outside of class to catch up?” This way, you’re setting boundaries without causing unnecessary drama in your friend group. If she reacts poorly, that speaks more to her behavior than yours, and you’ll know you’re prioritizing what’s best for you. Good luck!
