Ridiculous

Unbelievable!

I just got suspended for searching “cat glock” on my school Chromebook. The picture above is what I showed a friend. I had finished my work in ELA and thought it would be fun to look it up with my friend who was also done. Unfortunately, my ELA teacher saw my search.

Later, as I was heading to lunch, the last person I wanted to see—who’s honestly the most frustrating authority figure ever—was the vice principal. He called me to his office and I ended up stuck there for FOUR HOURS! Four hours wasted when I could have been enjoying lunch. I couldn’t even take the bus home, so I had to wait for my mom to pick me up. She works quite a distance away (about 20 minutes), but today she was at an event that’s three hours away!

Three and a half hours later, she finally arrived. Then I had to wait for my phone to be “checked” before I could get it back. What does that even mean?!? When I told my mom what happened and showed her the picture, she took their side and said I’m suspended for two days. It makes no sense!

Now I’m grounded, and for reasons I don’t even understand. I’ve decided I won’t go back to school, even after the suspension ends. Honestly, I’m so frustrated I’m considering running away from home. Wish me luck. 🤞

  1. I can see why you’re feeling so frustrated about this situation. It really does seem like a harsh punishment for just trying to have a little fun with a search. School rules can sometimes feel overly strict, and it’s definitely not fair that you had to endure that long in the office and then be suspended.

However, I would suggest taking a step back and considering the bigger picture. Escalating your response by saying you won’t go back to school or thinking about running away can create more problems than it solves. It might help to talk things out with your mom again, focusing on how you felt about the whole incident and trying to get her to see your side of things.

I get that it feels like you’ve been treated unfairly, but finding a way to communicate with the adults in your life and staying in school might not be such a bad idea. Hang in there! You’re not alone in feeling misunderstood.
