Should i go to school tomorrow

Should I go to school tomorrow?

I slipped on something over the weekend and ended up twisting my knee and possibly tearing something in my calf, too. I stayed home on Monday because I could barely walk, and my school is really big, with eight periods each day, which means a lot of walking. I’ve had this happen before, and the pain from walking was too much, so I asked my mom to let me stay home, and she agreed.

For some background, I often miss school because I have a weak immune system, so I get sick frequently, and I also struggle with mental health issues. The school knows about my situation, and they’ve always excused my absences, plus I still maintain straight A’s.

I had to go in today for testing, and not being able to walk properly made it really difficult. I don’t want to deal with that again tomorrow. It feels risky because my knee keeps locking up and popping, and I’m worried I could accidentally dislocate it while trying to get to class. I need to wear a brace on my knee to help it heal, but I’m concerned about standing out at school. My grandpa thinks I should go and claims it’s not a big deal, plus he’s mentioned that my mom could face fines or legal trouble if I don’t attend. I’m really unsure about what to do. 😭

  1. It sounds like you’re in a really tough spot right now, and it’s completely understandable to have concerns about going to school with an injury like that. Your health—both physical and mental—should come first. If walking around your school is causing you a lot of pain and you’re worried about potentially making your injury worse, it might be best to stay home and rest.

Since your school is aware of your situation and you’ve been doing well academically, they would likely understand your need to prioritize your recovery. It might help to have a conversation with your mom and explain your concerns again, especially about the risks involved with walking around a lot. Perhaps you can also get a note from a doctor if necessary, which could reassure both you and your mom.

Ultimately, it’s important to listen to your body and take the time you need to heal properly. Your current wellbeing is what matters most!
