Is it true you have to register to ride the bus now? I planned on taking the bus for the first time in a while to visit a friend, but when I tried to board, the driver told me I couldn’t unless my house was on that route. Apparently, this rule was put in place after COVID, but it just seems ridiculous to me. Has anyone else faced this issue? It feels odd to have to “register” just to use the bus. I’ve also had times when I needed to take the bus home due to bad weather and my parents being busy, and if I hadn’t found out about this rule, I would have been in a tough spot.

It sounds like you had a frustrating experience! Many transit systems made changes during and after COVID-19, and sometimes those rules can be confusing. It seems quite inconvenient to have to register just to ride the bus, especially when you might need it spontaneously, like in your situation. Have you checked if there’s a way to register online or if there are alternative routes that could work for you? It might also be worth reaching out to your local transit authority to get clarification on their policies and see if they have any suggestions for occasional riders. Hopefully it’ll get easier for you to use the bus in the future!
