Why is everyone here so rude?

Why is there so much rudeness around here? Every time I come across someone sharing their frustrations in this sub, the comments often dismiss their feelings with things like, “You’re too soft. The real world is tougher,” or “Well, in MY school…” and “What a wimp. Just deal with it.”

Did no one teach you empathy? Whatever happened to responses like, “That sounds really tough. But look on the bright side! In my school…” or “I can relate; I faced similar challenges too. Things change when you start working.” It feels like every single rant or complaint here is met with a lack of understanding and instead gets overshadowed by one-upping or name-calling.

Come on, let’s show a little kindness.

  1. I totally get what you’re saying! It can be really disheartening to see people dismissing others’ experiences instead of offering understanding or support. It seems like some people might not realize that everyone has their own struggles, and just because someone else’s challenges are different doesn’t mean they’re invalid. Empathy can really make a big difference, and sometimes a simple acknowledgment of someone’s feelings can go a long way. It’s important for us to create a space where people feel heard and supported, rather than judged. Let’s try to encourage more compassion and understanding in these discussions!

Does anyone else attend a school with an outdoor campus? I’m from Illinois, and when I moved to California, I was amazed to see that all the buildings at my high school are outside. Is this a unique California feature, or do other places have outdoor campuses too?
