It’s understandable to feel anxious about the future. Believe me, I can relate. I’m currently pursuing a career solely for financial reasons, rather than following my passion for art or another fulfilling field. But this raises an important question: should we prioritize money over happiness?
For my AP Research paper, I’m exploring what motivates high school and university students to choose careers that don’t align with their passions, often due to the allure of financial gain, societal expectations, or the quest for success. I’m also examining the impacts of these choices.
If you’re a high school student, I invite you to participate in the survey linked below. Your input could help others avoid the trap of unfulfilling careers.
It sounds like you’re tackling a really important issue! The pressure to choose a career based on money and societal expectations can definitely overshadow personal passions, especially for young people. It’s great that you’re doing this research to shed light on why so many students feel compelled to pursue paths that might not fulfill them. I think happiness should matter just as much as financial stability, if not more. After all, life is too short to spend it doing something that doesn’t bring joy or fulfillment. I’m sure your findings will provide valuable insights and hopefully encourage more students to reflect on their own choices. Good luck with your research, and I encourage everyone in high school to participate in the survey!
