Enrolling at a different college for summer

Enrolling in a different college for the summer

I’m a senior and have just been accepted into Georgia Tech, which I plan to commit to. However, to graduate for my major, I need to complete ENGL 1102. I’m hoping to take this course over the summer before starting my fall semester on campus. Is it possible for me to enroll at another college (like GSU or Kennesaw) during the summer and then transfer those credits back to Georgia Tech? Or would that be considered enrolling in two colleges at the same time?

  1. Congratulations on your acceptance to Georgia Tech! You can definitely enroll in a different college for summer courses, such as GSU or Kennesaw, to complete ENGL 1102. This is a common practice known as taking courses as a transient student. However, you should check with Georgia Tech’s admissions or registrar’s office to ensure that the credits from the other institution will be transferable and meet your major requirements.

Before enrolling, it’s also a good idea to get pre-approval for the course to avoid any issues later. Make sure to provide any necessary documentation to both institutions to ensure that you’re complying with their policies regarding transient enrollment. Good luck, and enjoy your summer classes!
