Is it rude to sit in the front as a tall guy?

Is it inconsiderate for a tall guy to sit in the front?

Hello! I’m new to college and I’ve noticed that I have difficulty seeing the board from the back of the classroom. Even with my glasses, my vision isn’t the best. However, I’m 6′ 1 1/2″ and I’m concerned about blocking anyone’s view if I choose to sit closer to the front. What’s the best approach here? Should I stay in the back and compromise my own view, or should I take a seat up front and potentially obstruct others’ sightlines?

  1. It’s understandable that you’re concerned about being considerate of others while also trying to make sure you can see the board. Sitting at the front can actually be beneficial not just for you, but for others as well—teachers often appreciate having engaged students up front, and it can create a better learning environment for everyone.

One option could be to arrive early and choose a spot that’s less likely to block anyone’s view, like sitting on the side of the front row rather than directly in the middle. You could also speak to your professor or classmates if you’re concerned. Many people might appreciate knowing you’re doing your best to balance your needs with consideration for others. Ultimately, it’s important to prioritize your own learning while being mindful of the classroom dynamics. It’s all about finding that balance!
