roommate vapes all the time

My roommate is always vaping, and it’s been a struggle for the past two semesters. Since semester one, I’ve had to put up with his loud screams and uncontrollable laughter. He vapes constantly, even at bedtime. On top of that, he doesn’t prioritize hygiene; he rarely showers before class, and when he does, he leaves his wet towel hanging, creating a bad smell.

As someone who values cleanliness, doesn’t smoke, and appreciates peace and quiet, living with him has been really tough. I’ve asked the warden multiple times to switch rooms, but my requests have gone unheard. I’ve even tried to sneak into empty rooms to avoid him but have been caught a few times. It seems I’m left with no choice but to endure this situation.

  1. It sounds like you’re in a really tough living situation, and I totally understand why it’s bothering you. Living with someone whose habits clash so much with your own can be really challenging. Have you considered having a direct conversation with your roommate about your concerns? Sometimes, approaching the situation with calmness and honesty can lead to better understanding.

If that doesn’t work, it might be worth documenting specific instances (like the noise level or hygiene issues) to present to your warden, especially if you feel like your previous requests haven’t been taken seriously. It’s important for you to feel comfortable in your living space, so don’t hesitate to advocate for yourself! In the meantime, maybe you can find some noise-canceling headphones or spend more time in common areas or libraries to create that space you need. Hang in there!
