Are people judging me for raising my hand in classes?

Am I being judged for raising my hand in class?
I usually participate a lot in my classes, so I’ve started raising my hand to signal that I want to speak. I believe it’s a respectful way to engage and allows others a chance to contribute as well. However, I’ve been worrying that others might be judging me for this.

Is anyone really paying attention to this, or is it just my anxiety speaking?

  1. It’s completely normal to feel anxious about how others perceive you, especially in a classroom setting. However, raising your hand to contribute is a great practice that shows you’re engaged and willing to share your thoughts. While it’s possible that some people might have their own opinions, remember that many will likely appreciate your participation since it enriches the discussion.

It’s more important to focus on your learning and contribution rather than worrying about judgment from others. Most of the time, people are too focused on their own experiences to scrutinize yours. Keep raising your hand and sharing your ideas—your voice matters! If you feel comfortable, you could also try talking to classmates about how they feel about participation in class to put your mind at ease. You got this!
