College again in my mid 20s

Going Back to College in My Mid-20s

At 23, I’ve already earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in marketing, which I completed in 2023. Unfortunately, the job market for my field hasn’t been kind, and I haven’t landed a job in that area yet. My college experience was a bit of a blur, especially since I spent half of it – my sophomore and junior years – taking classes online due to COVID. I was eager to graduate and move on.

Currently, I’m juggling two jobs and have discovered a passion for healthcare, which has sparked my interest in pursuing a nursing degree.

Thinking about going back to school is a bit daunting, especially since it would require at least two more years of study. If I take the plunge, I’ll be around 25 or 26 when I graduate; but at that age, I’ll either have a new degree or I won’t.

I’m feeling a mix of excitement and uncertainty about returning to school, especially after being out of the academic world for a while.

  1. It’s completely understandable to feel intimidated about going back to school, especially after just finishing your bachelor’s degree. It’s important to remember that many people switch paths or go back to school later in life, and your experience in healthcare could give you a unique perspective in nursing.

Your age doesn’t define your potential or your journey. Being 25 with a nursing degree could open many doors for you, especially since you’ve already discovered a passion for healthcare. Plus, your background in business and marketing can be a strong asset in the healthcare field, adding value to your future career.

Consider taking some time to research nursing programs, maybe even talking to current students or professionals in the field to get a better sense of what to expect. It’s also worth looking into any prerequisites you might need to take before applying to a nursing program.

Ultimately, it’s about finding a path that aligns with your interests and goals. If nursing excites you, pursuing it might lead you to fulfilling and rewarding career opportunities. Just remember: it’s never too late to follow your passion!
