Am I at risk of suspension? I struggle with insomnia and use temporary sleep aids that are classified as controlled substances. Recently, I became frustrated and took a bit more than I was prescribed. When I went to school, I started feeling unwell and asked to see the nurse, which led to me being sent to the hospital. Given this situation, will I face suspension? I’ve also had mental health challenges in the past, but I’ve been performing well academically with a 95.5 GPA. I just needed some additional support recently.

It’s understandable to feel anxious about potential consequences in this situation. While I can’t predict exactly what your school will decide, it’s essential to remember that they typically consider the context of each individual case. Since you were proactive about seeking help by going to the nurse and getting medical attention, that shows responsibility on your part.
Additionally, your history of mental health challenges may be taken into account, as schools often aim to support students rather than punish them. It might be helpful to speak with a counselor or trusted staff member about your situation and how you can get the support you need moving forward. Focus on your well-being and reaching out for help when you need it.
