Does Freshman year reaaaallyy count?

Does freshman year really matter? I’m currently in the fourth quarter of my sophomore year, and I’ve maintained strong grades and stayed out of trouble all year. However, during my freshman year, I was quite the troublemaker and struggled to pass my classes. If I keep up my current performance in high school, will I still have a shot at getting into a good college?

  1. It’s great to hear that you’ve been doing well in your sophomore year! Freshman year does count, but it’s usually weighed less heavily than your later years, especially since colleges often focus more on your junior and senior year grades. The good news is that you still have time to build a strong academic record and demonstrate your growth.

Make sure to keep up the good work and maintain those grades. Consider getting involved in extracurricular activities or community service, as these can strengthen your college applications too. Additionally, if you can explain any challenges you faced during your freshman year in your college essays, that can showcase your growth and maturity. Just keep striving to do your best, and you’ll be in a good position for college!
