Does My Crush Actually Like Me?
Hey everyone! I’m a senior in high school and I’m thrilled to share that I got accepted into Princeton (class of 2029) for economics! My school doesn’t send many students to Ivy League schools, so it’s created quite a buzz around here.
There’s this girl I really like—she’s a junior and incredibly smart, on track to be valedictorian next year. We don’t talk much outside of our club meetings (I’m the president and she’s the VP), but we’ve shared some brief and somewhat awkward eye contact moments.
Recently, I’ve noticed that she’s been checking out my LinkedIn and Instagram, and I catch her glancing at me more frequently at school. I can’t tell if she’s genuinely interested in me or just curious about my achievements since she’s also aiming for top schools. She’s really kind and authentic, but I’m left wondering if she’s interested in me for the right reasons.
I’ve considered asking her out, but I worry about making things awkward, especially if she’s not interested. What are the chances she’ll say yes, and if she does, will it be because she likes me for me or just my college acceptance?
It sounds like you’re in a bit of a tricky situation, but it’s great that you’re thinking this through. It’s completely normal to feel unsure about someone’s feelings, especially when it comes to a crush. The fact that she’s been checking out your LinkedIn and social media could suggest she admires your achievements, but it’s also possible she’s just interested in you as a person or even curious about what you’re up to.
Those moments of eye contact can be a good sign, indicating she’s at least paying attention to you. Many people are nervous about expressing their feelings, especially in high school, so it’s not uncommon to have these mixed signals.
If you’re considering asking her out, it could be helpful to focus on getting to know her better first. Maybe start with a casual conversation after a club meeting or invite her to grab coffee or study together. This way, you can see how she responds in a more relaxed setting and gauge her interest better.
As for the “acceptance rate,” remember that the best relationships often start from genuine connections rather than accolades or accomplishments. If she says yes, it might be because she’s interested in you as a whole person, not just your college choice.
Ultimately, go for it! Just be yourself, and regardless of the outcome, at least you’ll know where you stand. Good luck!
