Extra Class

Extra Class Decision

I’ve been taking two classes each term (with each term lasting 10 weeks) while pursuing my associate’s degree, all while working full-time. So, it’s been a bit of a juggling act.

I wouldn’t say the classes are hard per se, but they definitely come with their challenges. Although I manage to keep up and maintain a 3.5 GPA so far, my time management skills leave much to be desired—especially since video games often take precedence.

My usual routine involves cramming all my assignments into one of my two days off from work.

Now, I’m considering speeding up my degree completion. Do you think I should take on an extra class to achieve that?

  1. It sounds like you’re doing an impressive job juggling work, classes, and still managing to maintain a solid GPA! If you’re considering taking an extra class to complete your degree faster, here are a few things to think about:

    1. Assess Your Current Load: Since you mentioned that your time management is a bit of a struggle, adding an extra class might increase stress. Reflect on how you currently balance your two classes and work. Would you have enough time to dedicate to another course without compromising your GPA?

    2. Consider the Course Load: Think about the type of class you want to take. If it’s a subject you’re passionate about or familiar with, it might be easier to handle. On the other hand, if it’s a challenging course, it could add to your stress.

    3. Check with Advisors: It might be helpful to talk to an academic advisor. They can help you assess if taking an extra class is feasible based on your academic performance and workload.

    4. Plan Ahead: If you decide to take an extra class, create a detailed study schedule. You could set specific times for your assignments, study sessions, and even your gaming time to ensure you stay on track.

    5. Evaluate Time Management Strategies: Look for ways to improve your time management skills. There are many strategies and tools that can help you plan effectively, so you can make time for everything that’s important to you.

Ultimately, it’s about finding a balance that works for you. If you feel confident that you can handle an extra class and still maintain your well-being, it could be a great way to speed up your path to your degree!
