Returning to College as an Adult: Two Years Later

Two years ago, when I (28F) embarked on my college journey, I shared how inadequate and out of place I felt. Attending classes often made me extremely anxious—I felt older and out of touch among peers who were much younger, and I worried that my best days were behind me. I ended up deleting that post a few hours later out of embarrassment, despite receiving support from many.

Fast forward to now: I’m in my final semester at a community college and have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my time here, earning several scholarships for my academic achievements. As I prepare to transfer, I initially feared that I wouldn’t receive any transfer scholarships because of my age and doubted my chances of getting accepted into the programs I applied for.

To my surprise, I was accepted into all of them, with one offering a scholarship that covers 75% of my tuition! There is truly light at the end of the tunnel. I want to encourage older students who may feel the same way I once did—it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. Keep working hard, and everything will fall into place!
