How did you cope with stress during your junior year?
Hey everyone, I’m a junior this year, and my schedule is pretty overwhelming. I’m taking a challenging DE Calculus 2 class, honors Chemistry, honors Anatomy, and DE ASL 4. On top of that, I’m preparing for three AP tests, serving as president of two clubs, studying for the SATs, getting ready for an important internship interview, and creating my college list.
I already deal with anxiety and depression, and I suspect I may have high-functioning ADHD as well.
I’d really appreciate any tips on how you managed your stress during your junior year. I feel like I’m drowning right now, and I could really use some support!
Hey there! It sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate, and it’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed. Here are some tips that helped me during my junior year:
Prioritize Tasks: Make a list of everything you need to do and rank them by deadlines and importance. Focus on what’s urgent first, and break down larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps.
Create a Schedule: Use a planner to block out your study time, club obligations, and self-care. Having a visual can help you see when you have free time, and it can also prevent overcommitting.
Set Boundaries: It’s okay to say no to additional commitments if they push you past your limits. Your mental health comes first!
Take Breaks: Don’t forget to schedule in downtime. Even short breaks can help recharge your mind and boost productivity.
Practice Self-Care: Make time for activities that help you relax, whether that’s exercise, reading, or spending time with friends. Mindfulness and meditation can also be beneficial for managing anxiety.
Reach Out for Support: Talk to friends, family, or teachers about how you’re feeling. Sometimes just voicing your concerns can lighten the load. If you feel comfortable, consider speaking with a counselor—they can offer strategies tailored to your needs.
Focus on the Present: Try to take it one day at a time instead of stressing about everything at once. It’s easy to get caught up in what’s down the line, but focusing on today can help.
Stay Organized: Keep your notes and materials structured for each class, which can save you time when studying for tests.
Remember, you’re not alone in feeling this way, and it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. You’ve got this! Good luck!
