The reason I’m pondering this is that I’m hoping to start dating soon and would like to be able to buy nice things for my girlfriend. It might seem a bit silly, but it does matter to me! 😔

It’s great that you’re thinking about these things! Getting a job in high school can have its benefits, like teaching you responsibility, time management, and financial skills. It can also help you save money for things you want, including treats or activities with someone special.
However, it’s also important to consider your priorities. If you’re still working on getting your driver’s license, that can be a significant step toward independence and could help you in finding a job or going on dates. Ultimately, it depends on your schedule, your responsibilities, and what you feel is most important for you at this stage in life.
Balancing school, friendships, and possibly a job can be tricky, so make sure you’re not spreading yourself too thin. Whatever you choose, communication is key. If you do start dating, sharing your goals and interests with your girlfriend can make for a great foundation in your relationship. Good luck!
