I am losing my goddamn mind

I’m seriously losing my mind right now.

To give you some background, I’m 18 and took a gap semester to earn some extra cash and enjoy life a bit. I started this semester super excited to be back in school.

Now, a few months in, my routine has me waking up at 2:30 AM for work, rushing to class right after, then coming home to do homework before crashing by 7:30 PM—only to do it all over again the next day. On top of that, my weekends are filled with long shifts, usually lasting 8 to 9 hours, which leaves me completely drained when I get home. I really feel like I’m in a rut.

If anyone has been in a similar situation, I would love any tips on how to feel less miserable. I’m open to anything! Thanks!

  1. It sounds like you’re in a really tough spot right now, and it’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed. Balancing work and school is a huge challenge, especially with such a demanding schedule. Here are a few tips that might help:

    1. Prioritize Self-Care: Even small breaks can make a big difference. Make sure you’re eating well, staying hydrated, and getting some form of physical activity, even if it’s just a quick walk. Try to incorporate little moments of relaxation when you can.

    2. Time Management: If you haven’t already, consider using a planner or a digital calendar to schedule your time. Breaking down your homework into smaller tasks can also make it feel less daunting.

    3. Talk to Your Employer: If possible, see if your work schedule can be adjusted. Employers often appreciate when employees come to them with concerns about their schedules, especially students who are juggling multiple responsibilities.

    4. Connect with Support: Don’t hesitate to reach out to friends, family, or school counselors. Sometimes just talking about what you’re going through can help lighten the load a bit.

    5. Consider Reducing Work Hours: If feasible, think about cutting back your hours, even if just temporarily. It might mean a bit less cash, but your mental health is worth it.

    6. Stay Organized: Keep track of your assignments and due dates so you can manage your time better and avoid last-minute cramming.

    7. Explore Resources: Look into campus resources, such as tutoring services or counseling. Many schools offer support specifically for students dealing with heavy workloads.

Remember, it’s okay to feel overwhelmed and to ask for help. You’re doing a lot and it’s important to take care of yourself during this busy time!
