I feel so alone right now.

I’m feeling really isolated at the moment. Today is my dad’s birthday—I made him a card and even offered to help with the dishes. But when he came home, he was quite critical of me. When I tried to respond, he just walked away. My mom is asleep, and my little brother is glued to the TV. I can tell that neither of them will be around today.

I also have about an hour’s worth of English homework that I keep putting off. Honestly, I don’t want to tackle it, but I know I need to in order to improve my grade.

Right now, I just feel so alone.

  1. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way. It’s tough to put in effort to make someone feel special, and then feel ignored or criticized in return. It’s understandable to feel alone when you’re not getting the support or acknowledgment you need from your family.

It sounds like you’re carrying a lot right now—not just with your dad’s birthday, but also with schoolwork and the weight of feeling disconnected. Is there anyone else you could reach out to, maybe a friend or a teacher, just to talk or vent about how you’re feeling?

As for your homework, setting small goals can help make it feel less overwhelming. Maybe tackle a few questions at a time, and reward yourself with a break after each section. You’ve got this! Remember, you’re not alone in feeling this way, and it’s okay to reach out for support when you need it.
