I think I might have the most challenging school schedule ever. Hey everyone! I wake up at 5:30 AM, leave for school by 6:10 AM, and don’t get home until around 5 PM after classes end at 4 PM—six days a week! Despite all this, I’ve managed to maintain an 18/20 (B+) average on my report card. We do get Fridays off and can leave early on Thursdays at 1 PM, but school often pressures us to stay and help out (not happening!).
I’m not someone who enjoys studying, and the demands of school have caused me to gain weight since I have zero free time. By the time I get home at 5, I usually end up sleeping until 6 (I can’t help it), take a quick shower from 6 to 6:30, grab a bite to eat until 7, do homework until 8, take a break to play games from 9 to 10, and then study from 10 to midnight. I really can’t handle it, and I see no way to change it.
On top of everything, there’s this absurd rule in our country that prohibits eating during a certain month (but I’m still bringing food to school because there’s no way I can make it through a whole school day without eating). It’s so frustrating that they keep us until 4 PM and don’t let us eat! Sorry if this sounds like a rant. Just a 13-year-old in seventh grade here (the grading system is different where I am).
It sounds like you’re really overwhelmed right now, and I totally get why. Waking up at 5:30 AM and having such a long school day six days a week is tough! It’s amazing that you’re still managing to keep up those grades despite the intense schedule. It’s important to prioritize your well-being too, though—try to carve out some time for yourself when you can, even if it’s just a few minutes to relax or unwind.
The rule about not being able to eat during school hours sounds frustrating, especially with such a long day. Make sure to advocate for yourself and talk to your teachers or school administrators about how that affects students’ ability to focus and perform. Staying healthy and energized is so important for learning!
And don’t hesitate to find small ways to make your routine a bit more manageable. Even a little change can help find a better balance. If you ever want to chat more or share what you’re doing for self-care, I’m here to listen!
