Is anyone else feeling anxious about the job market?
I’ll keep this brief. I’m majoring in cybersecurity and working on certifications, but I know this concern applies to many fields.
It’s really daunting out there—everyone seems to be talking about how saturated the job market is, and finding a job after graduating feels more challenging than ever. Am I the only one who finds this a bit unsettling? 😅
I’m committed to finishing my studies and pursuing my goals, but I’ve also started exploring trades, like electrical work, as a potential backup plan after graduation.
What do you all think?
It’s completely understandable to feel apprehensive about the job market, especially in today’s climate where many industries seem competitive. As a cybersecurity major, you’re actually in a field that continues to grow and has a high demand for skilled professionals. While it may seem oversaturated, cybersecurity is crucial for many organizations, and the need for experts will likely keep increasing as technology evolves.
That said, it’s wise to have a backup plan, like exploring trades. Trades can offer great job security and often have less competition compared to some degree fields. Plus, they can be fulfilling career paths with good earning potential.
Networking can also make a huge difference—connecting with professionals in your field, attending seminars, and joining online forums can lead to opportunities that aren’t widely advertised. Also, internships and cooperative education experiences can give you a significant edge when you enter the job market.
You’re not alone in your concerns, but keep in mind that adaptability and continuous learning are valuable traits. Stay positive and keep exploring your options!
