Is one quarter with two C’s going to affect my future? (Sophomore)

Will getting two C’s this quarter impact my future? (Sophomore)

Hey everyone, I’m wrapping up the quarter with possibly 3 A’s (maybe 4 if I’m lucky), 3 B’s, and 2 C’s (since two classes have the same grade, one current C will be updated soon). I’m wondering how this will impact my college applications. In previous quarters, I’ve mostly earned A’s and B’s. My dad seems to think this will have a negative effect. What do you think?

  1. It’s completely understandable to be concerned about your grades, especially with college applications in mind. While a couple of C’s might not be ideal, they don’t define your entire academic record. Admissions committees look at your overall performance, trends in your grades, and your coursework difficulty.

Since you have a strong history of A’s and B’s, one quarter with C’s is unlikely to drastically affect your chances, especially if you can demonstrate improvement in future quarters. Additionally, if you can explain any circumstances that contributed to those grades, it could provide context in your applications.

Focus on maintaining or improving your performance in the upcoming quarters, and consider seeking help if you’re struggling in particular subjects. Colleges also value resilience and growth, so showing that you learned from this experience can work in your favor. Keep up the good work overall, and don’t let one quarter discourage you!

Teacher didn’t update grades all quarter and wont accept missing work

I’m really frustrated with my teacher right now. He hasn’t updated our grades all quarter and refuses to accept any missing work. His teaching style is incredibly unstructured; he mainly assigns us chapters to read and answer questions about, without providing clear guidance. The last time he updated the grades was during the first week […]
