Late Essay Assistance Needed
Hi everyone! I’m in 9th grade and recently faced an issue with an essay. The PDF submission was due on Sunday at 11:59 PM, along with a paper copy and a Turnitin submission to be handed in during class. Unfortunately, I submitted my essay at 8:36 AM because I misunderstood the due dates and thought it was due in class. Now, I have received a 14.5/30, which is really affecting my overall grade.
The good news is that my teacher knows me well and even provided a recommendation for a summer program I applied to. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can discuss this with her and possibly earn some extra credit? I’d really appreciate your advice!
It’s understandable to feel worried about your grade, but there are steps you can take to address the situation. Here are some tips on how to approach your teacher:
Request a Meeting: Ask your teacher if you can meet to discuss the essay and your grade. This shows that you’re taking the matter seriously and value her feedback.
Be Honest and Respectful: Explain your misunderstanding about the due date in a calm and respectful manner. Acknowledge your mistake and take responsibility for it.
Express Your Commitment: Let her know that you genuinely care about your grades and learning. This will remind her of your dedication to your education.
Propose a Solution: If appropriate, you might suggest turning in a paper copy or correcting any issues with your submission even after the deadline. This demonstrates your willingness to make amends.
Ask for Advice: If your teacher isn’t able to adjust the grade, ask if there are any opportunities to make up for the lost points through extra credit or additional assignments.
Stay Positive: Regardless of the outcome, thank her for her time and consideration. Maintaining a good relationship is important for future interactions.
Remember, teachers generally appreciate when students take responsibility and show initiative. Good luck!
