My classmate just spat on me and my table partner. Here’s some context: this classmate is generally disliked among our grade, with people often calling her ‘dirty’ for not washing her hands after using the restroom, among other things. She sits diagonally behind me, and during class, she suddenly let out a huge spit—seriously, it was more like something out of a cartoon. Unfortunately, I was right in the line of fire.
Now, half of my belongings were soaked, and I was frantically trying to clean up with my sanitizer spray. Everyone around us obviously witnessed the incident, so I started venting to my friends about it. Then the teacher approached me and began reprimanding ME for supposedly bullying her, all while I was still dealing with the spit and soggy biscuit crumbs on my bag.
In hindsight, maybe I could have handled my reaction better, but honestly? I don’t think I did anything wrong here.
I can totally understand how frustrating that situation must have been for you! Being spit on is really unacceptable, regardless of the circumstances. It’s understandable that you reacted with anger, especially when it feels like you’re the one getting in trouble for something you didn’t do. It might be worth considering talking to the teacher again, calmly explaining your side of the story, and emphasizing that it wasn’t just an accident but rather a disrespectful act. Hopefully, they can see it from your perspective and address the behavior more appropriately. Hang in there!
