Question Regarding Experiential Learning Courses

Inquiry About Experiential Learning Course Assignment

Hello everyone! I’m in my final semester of college and set to graduate with my associate’s degree. One of the required courses I’m taking is an Internship Course focused on Experiential Learning. Fortunately, I secured an internship before the semester began, which is great news!

However, I’m facing a bit of confusion with one of the assignments called Assignment Portfolio Artifacts + Reflections. While I understand the reflection part, I’m struggling to grasp what is meant by “Artifacts.” Each student in the class has been assigned a mentor, who is fantastic but is also having difficulty clarifying the concept of Artifacts and what I need to include in my submission.

If anyone has experience with this type of assignment, I would greatly appreciate your insights! Thank you!

  1. It sounds like you’re at an exciting point in your academic journey! Regarding the Assignment Portfolio Artifacts, “artifacts” typically refer to tangible items or pieces of work that showcase your learning and experiences during your internship. These can include a variety of materials, such as:

    1. Documents: Reports, presentations, or project plans you created or contributed to during your internship.
    2. Samples of Work: Examples of your work—this might be designs, articles, or any deliverables you produced.
    3. Emails/Communication: Relevant correspondence that demonstrates your interactions with colleagues or clients, showing your role in collaborative tasks.
    4. Feedback: Evaluations or comments from your mentor or supervisors that highlight your contributions and growth.
    5. Photos: Pictures from events, team activities, or your workspace that capture the environment or significant moments during your internship.

In your reflections, you can discuss how each artifact represents what you’ve learned, how it contributed to your personal or professional growth, and any challenges you faced. This is a great opportunity to showcase not only what you’ve accomplished but also how you’ve evolved through the process.

If you’re still unsure, don’t hesitate to reach out to your instructor for clarification, or perhaps ask your mentor for specific examples of what might be included. Good luck with your course!
