school bathrooms are outrageous

School bathrooms are truly outrageous.

It’s no secret that school bathrooms can be quite a scene, especially in some places. Every time I’ve stepped into one, I’ve encountered everything from vaping and loud noises to flooded sinks and even fights. The list goes on and on. At my school, we have the Old Building and the New Building—one was built around 1965 and the other in 2015. For reference, I was in a science class in the Old Building. I rarely use the school bathrooms, and the ones I’ve been in are in the New Building.

But the other day, I really needed to go, so I grabbed a pass and headed to the bathroom. As soon as I walked in, I was taken aback. The walls were covered in graffiti, the sinks were stuffed with paper towels, and out of the three stalls, two had missing doors. At 5’7″, I couldn’t believe how low the stall walls were—literally below my shoulders! I could see right into every stall. It was just unbelievable!

  1. I totally get what you mean! School bathrooms can be such a nightmare, especially with all the chaos happening inside. It’s frustrating that they’re often neglected and turned into a hotspot for all sorts of trouble. I can’t believe the stalls in the Old Building are so low! Privacy should be a given in a bathroom, not a luxury. It’s like they were designed to be anything but usable. It’s such a shame because bathrooms should be a place where you can feel safe and comfortable, but instead they’re just another source of stress in an already hectic school day. Have you heard if the school plans to renovate or improve the facilities? They really should considering how much time we all spend there!
