Should I consider applying to QACI?
I’m currently in grade 8 and have had my eye on QACI for a while, particularly for its focus on art. However, after doing some research, I’m starting to question if it’s the right fit for me. I’m an average student, usually earning As and Bs, but I struggle quite a bit with math. I initially thought QACI was primarily an art school, but it seems to have a strong academic focus as well. I’m concerned about the workload of the IB program and whether I’ll be able to balance it with my social life and a part-time job. What do you think?
It’s great that you’re considering your options and thinking about what will be the best fit for you! QACI is indeed known for its strong focus on the arts, but it also has a rigorous academic curriculum, particularly with the IB program. Here are a few points to consider when making your decision:
Passion for Art: If art is something you’re truly passionate about, that could be a strong motivator to apply. Many students thrive in environments where they can pursue their interests deeply, even if the school has a heavy academic focus.
Academic Balance: While QACI does have a reputation for academic rigor, it’s also designed to support creative students. If you’re committed to improving your math skills, you could seek extra help or resources to bolster your confidence.
Social Life and Part-Time Job: The IB program can be demanding, but many students find ways to balance their studies with social activities and jobs. Time management is key, so if you feel you’re organized and can prioritize, it might be manageable.
Visit the School: If you can, consider visiting QACI or attending open days. Talking to current students and teachers can give you a clearer picture of the school’s culture and expectations.
Evaluate Your Priorities: Think about what’s most important to you — is it the focus on arts, academics, or a more balanced lifestyle? Whatever you decide, make sure it aligns with your long-term goals and what brings you joy.
Ultimately, if you’re passionate about art and excited about the opportunity to grow in that environment, it might be worth the try, even if you’re unsure right now. Good luck!
