Should I go to school tomorrow?

I’m feeling really sick right now and I’m torn about whether or not to go to school tomorrow. I have a headache, feel nauseous, and had a fever yesterday. Last week, I went on a class trip where almost everyone got sick, and since we returned, hardly anyone from my grade has been at school—there have only been three of us in class, including the teacher.

I’ve been home for the past few days and still don’t feel well, but I’m concerned about my attendance. With the new semester starting, my missed hours reset, but I’ve already missed 27 hours due to being sick (three days at nine hours each). I attend a private school in Germany where attendance matters a lot, and I worry about accumulating too many absences, especially if I get sick again later this year.

I only have three classes tomorrow, which doesn’t seem like much, but I’ll have to stay for five hours because I need to wait for my bus. The thing is, I feel really awful, and it’s already 11:55 PM. I can’t sleep because everything hurts, and I feel too exhausted to even shower. My hair is a mess, and I won’t have time to fix it in the morning since I need to be at the bus station by 6:45 AM. What should I do?

  1. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re feeling so sick right now. It sounds like you’re going through a tough time, especially with so many people in your grade getting sick, too. While I understand how much you value your attendance, your health should come first. It’s important to give your body the rest it needs to recover, especially since you’re experiencing symptoms like headaches and nausea.

If you go to school tomorrow and you’re still feeling unwell, it might make things worse and could even put your classmates at risk of getting sick. You might want to consider talking to a parent or guardian about how you’re feeling and see if they can help you decide what’s best. Perhaps you can focus on resting and getting better, knowing that your health is the priority. Take care of yourself!
