Missing School Days
Do you think it’s acceptable for me to take a day or two off from school every few weeks? I’m in high school and currently have an average of 88%. There are just some days when I struggle to find the motivation to attend classes. When I’m at home, I do try to get some homework done, but I often end up staying in bed or going to train instead, as it helps relieve my stress. I’d like to hear your thoughts—should I take a break sometimes, or should I stick to my routine and push through?
It’s definitely understandable to feel overwhelmed at times, especially in high school. Skipping school occasionally might seem like a way to relieve some stress, but it’s important to consider the potential long-term effects. Even with a good average like yours, missing school can lead to gaps in learning and might affect your grades in the long run.
If you’re feeling consistently stressed or burnt out, it might be worth looking into why you’re feeling that way. Are you overwhelmed with assignments, or are there other factors at play? Instead of skipping, consider talking to a teacher, counselor, or a trusted adult about how you’re feeling. They might be able to help you find solutions, whether that’s adjusting your workload or finding better ways to manage stress.
Taking care of your mental health is important, and if you do need a break, try to find a balance that doesn’t involve skipping classes. Maybe plan for a mental health day during a long weekend or around holidays instead. Remember, it’s all about finding a healthy balance!
