Feeling Overwhelmed by Homework and Graduation Worries

Since starting school in September 2020, I’ve managed to accumulate only 75 credits by the end of this semester (which ends in April). I struggled through my first and second years, failing multiple courses, and while I didn’t fully grasp the impact of those failures at the time, it’s definitely affecting me now.

Although I’ve never considered myself a strong student, I’ve been determined to improve myself since recovering from depression, particularly regarding my academics. However, this desire for change has led to heightened stress over my homework, and I find myself constantly overthinking. I still battle procrastination, yet I make an effort to complete my assignments. The sheer volume of work is overwhelming, and I’ve had several breakdowns as a result. Even when I manage to meet deadlines, the stress remains.

I won’t be able to graduate until Fall 2026 or Spring 2027, and just the thought of how long this process is taking really adds to my anxiety. To graduate within that timeframe, I need to take intense course loads during summers. The prospect of sacrificing my summer breaks is disheartening, and there are some personal reasons behind my desire to graduate by that time that I prefer not to share.

I know my current situation is largely due to my past choices, but it’s incredibly stressful, and I often feel on the brink of breaking down. I’m uncertain about what to do next or even what kind of advice I’m seeking.

TL;DR: I’m feeling extremely stressed about the length of time it’s taking to finish school and the workload involved.

    5. Reflect on Your Progress: Occasionally take a step back and reflect on how far you’ve come. Your journey is ongoing, and celebrating small victories can boost your morale.

    6. Consider Professional Help: If stress becomes too overwhelming, it might be beneficial to speak with a counselor or therapist. They can provide strategies tailored to you and your situation.

    Remember, it’s okay to feel this way, and seeking help is a strength, not a weakness. You’re not alone in this, and with the right strategies and support, you can navigate through these challenges. Take it one day at a time, and be gentle with yourself. You’ve got this!
