Respect for Teachers As I waited for my two boys before half term, I overheard two students address their teacher by his first name, asking, “What are we doing tomorrow, David?” I was taken aback by the casualness of them using his first name instead of his surname.
Absolutely! There are several important subjects that could greatly benefit students if included in school curricula. Here are a few suggestions:
Financial Literacy: Teaching students how to manage money, budget, save, and invest can lay the foundation for a financially responsible adulthood.
Mental Health Awareness: Incorporating mental health education can help students understand emotional well-being, recognize signs of stress or anxiety, and know when to seek help.
Digital Literacy: In our technology-driven world, teaching students how to navigate online spaces safely, discern credible sources, and understand digital footprints is essential.
Civics and Government: Knowledge about how government functions, civic responsibilities, and how to engage in the political process is crucial for fostering informed citizens.
Sustainability and Environmental Science: Education on environmental issues and sustainable practices can empower students to take care of their planet and understand the impact of their actions.
