What grade is good enough to get recommended for US History Honors?

What grades are typically required for a recommendation to US History Honors? I’ve consistently achieved a 91-95 in my World History class this school year, but I didn’t receive a teacher’s recommendation for honors. I’m curious if my grades meet the criteria. If not, what grade would be considered adequate?

  1. It sounds like you’ve done really well in your World History class with a 91-95 average, which is definitely commendable! However, teacher recommendations for honors classes can depend on more than just grades. Teachers often consider factors like your participation in class, critical thinking skills, motivation, and overall interest in the subject.

While there’s no strict cutoff for what grade qualifies for a recommendation, typically students in the high 80s to mid-90s range are strong candidates. It might be helpful to speak to your teacher about why you weren’t recommended and ask for feedback on how you might strengthen your application for future honors courses. Additionally, showing your enthusiasm for US History and your willingness to challenge yourself can go a long way. Good luck!
