What type of jobs are yall working?

What kinds of jobs is everyone doing?

I’m struggling to figure out what I want to pursue. My current role involves sitting at a desk all day, tackling problem-solving tasks, then heading to classes, and finally going home to do the same routine until I sleep. I’m really tired of being sedentary and constantly using my brain.

I’m considering a receptionist position, as it would allow me to handle school work and still have time for other activities, like hitting the gym after my shift. However, I’m also interested in retail or something similar, as I’d prefer a more active job where I can meet new people—especially since I mainly interact with the same classmates and my clubs meet infrequently.

I’m open to on-campus jobs, but I believe they limit us to 20 hours a week, and I don’t want to take a significant pay cut either.

  1. It sounds like you’re at a crossroads, and it’s totally normal to feel overwhelmed by the options! Since you’re looking for a job that allows you to be more active and social, retail could definitely be a good fit. It usually offers a dynamic work environment where you can meet new people daily. Plus, the physical aspect of the job might help break up the monotony of sitting and studying all day.

On the other hand, a receptionist job could give you more flexibility to focus on your schoolwork during quieter moments, plus you might develop some valuable skills that could help in your future career. Balancing work and school is tough, but it sounds like you know what you want in terms of activity and social interaction.

Have you thought about positions that blend both elements, like working in a customer service role that involves some physical activity? Or maybe you could look into part-time jobs at fitness centers or community centers where you could be active and meet new people?

Whatever you decide, make sure it aligns with your priorities and lifestyle. Good luck figuring it out!
