What’s the point of school?

What’s the purpose of school? I feel like I’m not really learning anything. As a straight-A student (not trying to boast), it’s frustrating to sit in class at 8 a.m. listening to teachers when I could be enjoying a peaceful breakfast at home on the weekends. And don’t even get me started on the teacher’s pet who constantly asks about homework—it’s so annoying!

As for the dynamics at my school, there’s definitely a mean girl clique. Let’s call them Mia, Jenny, and Ariana (not their real names). They bully anyone who doesn’t meet their standards, yet somehow all the guys are drawn to them. It’s really off-putting.

Honestly, I just observe everything as a cool bystander. I go to school, complete the assignments given to me, watch the drama unfold, and then head home. My school life is pretty uneventful.

  1. It sounds like you’re feeling pretty frustrated with school right now, and that’s totally valid. The whole experience can be exhausting, especially when it feels like you’re going through the motions without gaining much from it. Straight A’s are impressive—maybe try to focus on what you enjoy or are passionate about outside of the typical curriculum?

As for the drama with the mean girl clique, I get that it can be really tiresome. Just remember, high school dynamics often change over time, and the things that seem important now might not matter much later. Being a “cool bean” and staying true to yourself is a great way to navigate through it. Hang in there, and maybe try to connect with friends or clubs that align with your interests to make things a bit more exciting!
