Just a quick note: This is part of my WRIT 1120 class project where we’re exploring primary research strategies. It’s not formal IRB research and is not intended to contribute to any broader academic field. The purpose is simply to help WRIT 1120 students practice and gain experience with primary research methods for their future studies. Any data collected will remain within the WRIT 1120 class context, and it won’t be used elsewhere without written consent from participants. These projects do not require IRB review.
My favorite book genre is fantasy. I am really drawn to it because it allows for endless imagination and creativity; the worlds are often so richly built and lavishly detailed. It’s amazing how authors can create entire realms with their own rules, cultures, and mythologies that feel immersive. The escapism that fantasy offers is also a major appeal—it’s a wonderful way to break free from the constraints of reality and explore adventures that are completely outside the ordinary.
I often enjoy series that include elements of magic, quests, or mythical creatures. Some of my favorites include “The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkien and “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George R.R. Martin. I find that these stories often explore deep themes, such as friendship, sacrifice, and the struggle between good and evil, all while keeping me completely engrossed in the plot.
How about you? What genre do you prefer, and what draws you to it?
