As a foreigner, I have never experienced an actual American high school, so I was recently thinking, is the high school experience similar to what is portrayed in popular culture for example- you have the bullies, the “cool” kids who don’t let just anyone in their group, goths, nerds etc. Is it actually like that? Do unpopular kids sit by the trashcans? Do all the popular kids sit on the same table? I feel like it must have been a true portrayal of the high school experience in the past since we see it in every tv show and movie but now in 2025 when being progressive and accepting of others is the norm, I just don’t think it would work like that? Any opinion is welcomed
