Preparing for High School: Insights from a Recent Freshman Experience
As you stand on the cusp of high school, you might find yourself with a multitude of questions about what lies ahead. Whether you’re transitioning from eighth grade or just eager to gather insights, connecting with someone who’s recently navigated this phase can be incredibly helpful.
Allow me to share a bit about my own journey through ninth grade, which just concluded recently. My experiences might offer some clarity and guidance as you prepare for this exciting new chapter.
During my freshman year, I actively participated in various competitions and earned several awards, particularly in politics and economics. I scored a 29 on the ACT, with subscores of 24 in English, 30 in Math and Science, and an impressive 33 in Reading. My GPA stood at 4.06, with all A’s and multiple classes exceeding 100%. I also held leadership roles as a class officer and secured positions for the upcoming year. Throughout the year, I maintained meaningful friendships and developed solid peer groups.
Academically, I challenged myself with AP courses like APUSH (U.S. History), Algebra 2, Geometry, Biology, and Chemistry—in all cases, striving to do my best. While I’m awaiting official scores for some, I feel confident about my performance. Despite the summer break, I remain optimistic about the future and the opportunities ahead.
To those beyond eighth grade—whether you’re a rising freshman or just curious—feel free to ask any questions. I’m happy to share more insights from my recent experiences to help you better prepare for high school.
